I work as a wildlife biologist, and I specialize in ornithology (birds). It is very difficult to become a biologist who ONLY specializes in one animal, especially ones that readily found everywhere in the world. You would have to go to school and obtain your Bachelor of Science degree (usually a 4 year program), in biology, zoology, wildlife management, or some other similar major. You would then have to start interning with biologists who already works with wolves. Keep in mind it may be hard to find someone to work with as many biologists are not willing to train others as you will eventually be competition. As far as working with pets…this would be completely different training.. see website below for more info:
